ELITE QUALITY STRUCTURES
Frequently Asked Barndo and Metal Structure Questions
We’re proud to be based in Macon, Georgia, and serve homeowners across the region who are looking to build high-quality, long-lasting barndominiums. Our central location allows us to efficiently manage projects throughout Georgia and surrounding areas.
Absolutely! One of the great things about barndominiums is that they often appraise for more than the cost to build. Many of our clients see strong equity right out of the gate. The steel exterior is not only sleek and modern—it’s also incredibly low-maintenance and stands up well to the elements, which helps preserve long-term value.
Yes, we do! At Elite Quality Structures, our turnkey solution takes the guesswork out of your build. We provide the exterior shell package and then work closely with trusted, local general contractors to complete the interior based on your specific vision. It’s a streamlined approach that helps you move in faster—with fewer headaches.
We offer a wide variety of floor plans to get you started, but your options don’t stop there. All of our barndominium designs can be modified to suit your needs. Because the structural integrity comes from the exterior steel frame, interior walls can be moved or removed to match your ideal layout. Want to go completely custom? Our design team is happy to help bring your one-of-a-kind vision to life.
On average, most of our barndominiums take about six months to complete, depending on weather, site conditions, and scope of your project. That said, our contracts reference a 12-month timeframe to align with standard banking and loan terms—but we strive to beat that target. Every home and client journey is a bit different, and we’ll keep you updated each step of the way.
Yes, we can. While slab foundations are the most common and cost-effective option, we understand that some properties call for a basement—especially if you’re building on a slope. We can work with your site conditions and help coordinate with your general contractor to ensure a proper, well-executed basement foundation is part of the plan.
It used to be more cost-effective to build up rather than out—but with recent shifts in material and labor costs, that gap has narrowed. Now, the decision often comes down to your land. If your site requires a lot of grading or you’re limited on footprint space, a two-story build may save money and simplify site prep. We’re happy to help you weigh the pros and cons during your planning phase.
Before we begin construction, it’s important to check with your local zoning and planning authorities. Some neighborhoods and municipalities may have restrictions on building styles, setbacks, or square footage minimums. We’re here to help guide you through those requirements so there are no surprises down the road.
Every site is different, but generally, you’ll need to have your land cleared and leveled, with access for equipment and materials. Site improvements like grading, utilities, and driveway access may be required prior to or during the early stages of construction. We can help you identify what’s needed and coordinate with local professionals to get your land ready.
Absolutely! If you’re outside our building service area or already have a contractor in mind, you can purchase one of our detailed floor plans. Each plan includes precise architectural specs and is ready for your builder to get to work—whether you’re building in Georgia or beyond.
Great question! Our barndominiums are engineered steel structures that provide superior durability, longevity, and design flexibility compared to traditional pole barns. While pole barns use wood posts embedded into the ground, our builds rely on a steel frame system anchored to a concrete slab, offering more strength and reduced risk of long-term shifting or rot. The result? A home that looks amazing and lasts for decades.
